Our story

Cricket has been played on this ground for around 160 years. It sits high above Lepton in a natural bowl, looking out across the Pennines to the Emley Moor mast, and it has been the village’s sporting home for generations.

Today the Highlanders are one club with three sides to it: a thriving junior and senior football section, a cricket section that fields men’s, women’s, girls’ and junior teams, and a sports and social club with a bar and function room that keeps the whole thing going.

The land is held in trust for sport in Lepton and the club is run as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee by a volunteer committee. Everything we take on the bar or in venue hire goes back into pitches, nets, kit and coaching.

Our motto is “Victory With Honour”, and the badge has carried it since the club was established in 1966. We are marking our 60th anniversary through 2026.
